Its operations are categorized into four primary divisions: Software, Consulting, Infrastructure, and Financing. The Software division specializes in hybrid cloud platforms and various software offerings. These include enterprise open-source solutions like Red Hat, along with software for automating business processes, AIOps and management, system integration, and application servers. It also provides solutions for data and artificial intelligence, and security software and services covering threat detection, data protection, and identity management. Furthermore, this segment supplies transaction processing software vital for clients' critical on-premise operations in sectors such as banking, aviation, and retail. The Consulting arm delivers business transformation services, encompassing strategic planning, process re-engineering and operations optimization, data analytics, and system integration. It also provides technology advisory services, as well as application and cloud platform services. Within the Infrastructure segment, IBM offers server and storage solutions, both on-premises and cloud-based, tailored for clients' essential and regulated workloads. This includes support and services for hybrid cloud infrastructure, in addition to remanufacturing and remarketing services for pre-owned equipment. The Financing division provides various financial services, such as leasing, installment payment options, loan financing, and short-term working capital funding. Originally established as Computing-Tabulating-Recording Co., the company was incorporated in 1911 and maintains its headquarters in Armonk, New York.
